Preview: Mancos Bluejays vs. Montezuma-Cortez Panthers
Mancos has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mancos will be strutting in after a victory while Montezuma-Cortez will be coming in after a loss.
Last Saturday, Mancos beat Ridgway 55-48. Given Mancos' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Ridgway is ranked 306th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Montezuma-Cortez came up short against Pagosa Springs on Saturday and fell 61-48. Montezuma-Cortez has struggled against Pagosa Springs recently, as their contest on Saturday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Mancos is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Montezuma-Cortez, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.
Mancos didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Montezuma-Cortez in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 61-56 victory. Will Mancos repeat their success, or does Montezuma-Cortez have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
