Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Sandy

Sandy got themselves on the board against David Douglas on Friday, but David Douglas never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Scots. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Cooper Hibbs and Luke Hatton did most of the damage at the plate: Hibbs went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Hatton went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave Hibbs a new career-high. Kamden Luebbert also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sandy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Sandy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for David Douglas, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Sandy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Scots: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
