Softball Recap: Ferris Comes Up Short

After flying high against Life Waxahachie last Wednesday, Ferris came back down to earth. The Ferris Yellowjackets came up short against the Venus Bulldogs on Friday, falling 8-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.

Katelyn Wayne spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered eight runs (all of which were unearned) on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Ferris saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landri Davis, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Ferris now has a losing record of 7-8-2. As for Venus, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-3-1.

Looking ahead, Ferris will head out on the road to face off against Kennedale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kennedale has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.67 runs per game on average), something Ferris will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Venus, they will welcome Hillsboro at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hillsboro is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
