Basketball Game Preview: Los Lunas Tigers vs. Las Cruces Bulldawgs

The Los Lunas Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Las Cruces Bulldawgs at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, 2025 welcomed Los Lunas with a 56-35 loss courtesy of Farmington.

Meanwhile, Las Cruces came up short against Legacy on Saturday and fell 54-45. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bulldawgs came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 57th in New Mexico, while the Leopards are ranked 313th in Texas).

Las Cruces has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Los Lunas, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-8.

Los Lunas barely slipped by Las Cruces when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 37-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Los Lunas since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
