Baseball Game Preview: Seward Bluejays vs. Lincoln Lutheran Warriors

The Seward Bluejays will head out to take on the Lincoln Lutheran Warriors at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Seward's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Lincoln Lutheran's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Seward is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Centennial with a sharp 12-2 victory on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bluejays with their most commanding win of the season.

Brycen Burt and Quin Berner did most of the damage at the plate: Burt went 2-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and two RBI, while Berner went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that Burt launched this season. Another player making a difference was Bostyn Happ, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and two RBI.

Seward was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Lincoln Lutheran came up short against Mount Michael Benedictine on Thursday, falling 22-9.

Kruz Fiddler was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Lincoln Lutheran: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

Lincoln Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Seward, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-5.

Seward came out on top in a nail-biter against Lincoln Lutheran in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bluejays since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
