Soccer Game Preview: Perry vs. Hoover

Perry hasn't had much luck against Hoover recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Panthers will square off against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Perry will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal last Thursday, then bounced right back against Ashland last Saturday. The Panthers skirted past the Arrows 4-3. Considering Perry's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Daniel Harris and Pryce Destefano scored all four of Perry's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Meanwhile, Hoover had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 1-0 shutout. Hoover's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three matchups.

Hoover's win bumped their record up to 6-3-4. As for Perry, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3-2.

Perry came up short against Hoover in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, falling 3-1. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
