Baseball Game Preview: Granite City Warriors vs. St. Louis HomeSchool P Patriots

The Granite City Warriors will take on the St. Louis HomeSchool P Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Granite City will be strutting in after a victory while St. Louis HomeSchool P will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with nine losses in a row, Granite City turned things around against Jacksonville on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Crimsons 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since May 20, 2024.

Granite City got a great performance from Connor Schaefer as he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Granite City let Keithan Noel and Nathan Hopper run wild. Noel went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double, while Hopper went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Hopper is becoming a predictor of Granite City's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 0-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Andrew Willaredt, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Meanwhile, St. Louis HomeSchool P might've scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was Althoff Catholic who claimed the real prize. The Patriots fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 4-3.

Will Schark made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Camden Rodriguez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Granite City's win bumped their record up to 2-9. As for St. Louis HomeSchool P, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season.
