Basketball Recap: Grace Academy Knights vs. Shalom Christian Academy Flames
If the Grace Academy Knights were feeling good off their 67-46 takedown of the Faith Christian Academy Falcons last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Grace Academy took a 46-28 bruising from the Flames on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Grace Academy has scored all season.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Peter Ciardiello, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. That was a full 42.9% of Grace Academy's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronan Casey, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Grace Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Shalom Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grace Academy will take on the at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. New Life Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully the Knights like a good challenge. As for Shalom Christian Academy, they and the Blazers will face off at 8:00 p.m. on February 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
