Softball Game Preview: Liberty Mountaineers vs. Robert C. Byrd Eagles

Liberty is 2-8 against Robert C. Byrd since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Mountaineers will head out to square off against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Liberty has given up an average of 12.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Liberty had taken North Marion down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Mountaineers came up short against the Huskies, falling 25-10. The Mountaineers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Robert C. Byrd was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 5-1 to Lincoln. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Robert C. Byrd, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Liberty might still be hurting after the 17-0 defeat they got from Robert C. Byrd in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Mountaineers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
