Basketball Recap: Pinewood Prep Panthers vs. Porter-Gaud Cyclones
The Pinewood Prep Panthers lost against the Porter-Gaud Cyclones back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Pinewood Prep fell 55-47 to the Cyclones. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pinewood Prep in their matchups with the Cyclones: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Pinewood Prep had strong showings from Michael Jones, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds, and Tripp Eidson, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. Eidson is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last eight games he's played. Za?Qari Heath was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Pinewood Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 20-10. As for Porter-Gaud, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.
Pinewood Prep's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Generals at 7:00 p.m. on February 5th. One thing working in Cathedral Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches. As for Porter-Gaud, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Dolphins at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hilton Head Prep comes in on seven and the Cyclones on three.
