Softball Game Preview: Mitchell Mountaineers vs. Asheville Cougars

Mitchell is 0-4 against Asheville since March of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Mitchell Mountaineers will venture away from home to square off against the Asheville Cougars at 5:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Mitchell lost 9-2 to Hendersonville on Tuesday.

Mitchell got a good showing from Brianna Nutter, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That one earned run gave Nutter a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Mitchell saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zaiden Ayers, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Asheville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 22nd straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Chase, falling 9-2.

Camila Wyda Wyda made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.

Asheville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Mitchell, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
