Softball Recap: Rancho Verde Find Success

Rancho Verde proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 11) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the San Jacinto Tigers 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since April 10, 2024.

Isabelle Sena spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Zury Luna, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Sadie Menendez was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Luna wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Rancho Verde kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matches.

Rancho Verde's record now sits at 5-2. As for San Jacinto, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-2.

Rancho Verde has already played their next game, a 13-3 victory against Vista del Lago on the 20th. As for San Jacinto, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-4 loss against Paloma Valley on the 19th.
