Baseball Recap: First Academy Gets the Win

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Friday. First Academy came out on top against Legacy Charter by a score of 10-7. First Academy hasn't had any issues with Legacy Charter recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Colin Bryan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for First Academy: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-13 otherwise.

In other batting news, First Academy let Dominick Peterson and Cole Bell run wild. Peterson went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Bell went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. First Academy is 4-1 when Bell posts two or more runs, but 2-13 otherwise. Dylan Bell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

First Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Legacy Charter only posted a batting average of .241.

First Academy's record is now 6-14. As for Legacy Charter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

First Academy and Legacy Charter are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Eagles will face off against St. John Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. First Academy's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Saints have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Legacy Charter, they will challenge Central Florida Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
