Baseball Game Preview: Parker Thundering Herd vs. Midfield Patriots

Parker is a perfect 10-0 against Midfield since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Parker Thundering Herd will host the Midfield Patriots at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Parker has three straight wins, Midfield has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Parker proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 15) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Fultondale 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Thundering Herd have posted since February 22, 2024.

Christian Dooley was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Parker is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise. Dooley was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. He also got two hits, marking his first of the season.

Dooley wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nicholas Hawkins, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. Another was Major Davis-Craig, who scored a run and stole two bases.

Meanwhile, Midfield came up short against Carver Birmingham last Wednesday, falling 13-1.

Midfield's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Parker, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Everything went Parker's way against Midfield in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Parker made off with a 13-1 win. Will Parker repeat their success, or does Midfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
