Basketball Recap: Mekhi Guillaume Key Part of Team Effort in Bulldogs Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ridge Community, Frostproof was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They snuck past the Somerset College Prep Academy Spartans with a 55-51 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in February.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Frostproof to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mekhi Guillaume, who shot 47% from the field to rack up 20 points in addition to five assists and five steals. The matchup was Guillaume's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Aj Young, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Frostproof was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Somerset College Prep Academy only racked up five.

Despite the loss, Somerset College Prep Academy still got an impressive performance from Lenz Constant, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 20 boards. Constant is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Wilson Julien also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Frostproof's record now sits at 3-1. As for Somerset College Prep Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.

Frostproof didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-49 victory against DeSoto County on the 5th. As for Somerset College Prep Academy, they will face off against Westwood at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
