Baseball Game Preview: Liberty Magnet Patriots vs. Parkview Baptist Eagles

The Liberty Magnet Patriots will head out on the road to challenge the Parkview Baptist Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Liberty Magnet is headed into the game having just posted their closest win since April 3, 2024 on Thursday. They skirted past Woodlawn-B.R. 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Tyler Houston was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Daniel Sanchez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Parkview Baptist waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Cubs. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by just one run.

Parkview Baptist pushed their record up to 25-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Liberty Magnet, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 13-13.

Liberty Magnet suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Parkview Baptist when the teams last played back in March. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
