Softball Recap: Bartlett Takes Down Ranked Service

Bartlett faced Service in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Golden Bears came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 12-8. 12 seems to be a good number for the Golden Bears as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Amariah Loia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Loia was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Saniyah Faumuina, who fired off three runs, three doubles, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Khloe Faaaliga was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Bartlett hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in five consecutive contests.

Bartlett's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Service, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10-1.

Bartlett has already played their next matchup, a 10-8 win against South Anchorage on the 30th. Service does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
