Basketball Preview: Horizon Hawks vs. Fort Collins Lambkins

Horizon is 9-0 against the Lambkins since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Horizon Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Fort Collins Lambkins at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Horizon comes in on nine and the Lambkins on four.

Even though Rocky Mountain scored an imposing 63 points on Saturday, Horizon still came out on top. Horizon walked away with a 72-63 victory over the Lobos.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Horizon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lindie Holland, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Holland has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Madyn Kassatly, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Meanwhile, Fort Collins scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mountain Range 86-22 at home. Fort Collins has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 22 points or more this season.

Fort Collins got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Paige Fry out in front who scored 14 points along with six steals. Fry is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Alcaraz, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds.

Horizon pushed their record up to 16-2 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Fort Collins, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Horizon have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Fort Collins struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Horizon came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lambkins when the teams last played back in February of 2023, sneaking past 51-49. Does Horizon have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lambkins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
