Baseball Recap: Niles West's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Niles West walked away with it. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Niles North Vikings on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wolves as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Teddy Schroeder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Niles West's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 5-2 (and 12-16 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Lucas Som was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Andrew Lim was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Niles West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.

Niles West's win bumped their record up to 17-18. As for Niles North, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-19-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Niles West nor Niles North have any future games scheduled.
