Basketball Game Preview: Wilsonville Wildcats vs. Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts Mustangs

Wilsonville is 9-1 against Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Wilsonville Wildcats will take on the Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wilsonville has seven straight wins, Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts has 28 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Wilsonville took their contest with ease, bagging a 91-16 victory over Hillsboro. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Gabi Moultrie continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 7-for-11 from beyond the arc and almost dropping a double-double with 29 points and nine steals. Her evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Audrey Counts, who went 8-for-14 to rack up 20 points.

Wilsonville was working as a unit and finished the game with 28 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts took a blow against Canby on Tuesday, falling 78-14.

Wilsonville pushed their record up to 13-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 44 points. As for Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-20.

Everything came up roses for Wilsonville against Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts when the teams last played back in January, as the team secured a 73-8 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wilsonville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
