Baseball Game Preview: Glendale Pirates vs. Lost River Raiders

For the second straight game, Glendale will face off against Lost River. The Pirates will be playing at home against the Raiders at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Glendale has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Lost River will arrive with three straight victories.

Glendale managed to slip by Lost River the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Pirates came up short against the Raiders on Tuesday, falling 11-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

For Lost River's part, Kyle Diaz made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. Diaz also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lost River is 6-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Diaz was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Noah O'Neill was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Beau Sanders, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Glendale's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Lost River, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
