Basketball Recap: Fort Myers Takes a Loss

Fort Myers and Port Charlotte squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Fort Myers had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Port Charlotte Pirates 71-44. The loss continues a trend for the Green Wave in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now lost five in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Fort Myers lost, don't look at James Michel. Despite the final result, he posted 18 points. Karsten Schafer was another key player, putting up eight points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Port Charlotte to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dallas Lambert, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 14 points. Another player making a difference was Marcus Nestor, who put up 13 points.

Fort Myers' defeat dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Port Charlotte, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-5.

Fort Myers does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Port Charlotte, they have already played their next match, a 76-47 win against Naples on the 12th.
