Basketball Game Preview: Oviedo Lions vs. University Christian Christians

The Oviedo Lions will take on the University Christian Christians in a holiday battle at at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, Oviedo beat Orlando Christian Prep 63-53. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Warriors are ranked 377th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oviedo relied on the efforts of Cameron Bryant, who went 9 for 12 on his way to 26 points and eight rebounds, and Terell James, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 15 points and six assists. The game was Bryant's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Tejada, who posted seven points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Oviedo was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, University Christian beat Creekside 47-42 on Saturday.

University Christian found their leader in sophomore Markel Holmes, who had 16 points. Adalbert Allotey was another key player, putting up eight points.

Oviedo is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for University Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
