Basketball Recap: Poca Comes Up Short

Poca and Wayne squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Poca had to settle for second. They were dealt a 67-32 loss at the hands of the Pioneers. The Dots were not able to make up for their defeat to the Pioneers from their previous meeting back in February of 2025.

Leading Wayne to victory were Colton Heck and Carter Ross. Heck went 7-for-12 to rack up 18 points and six boards, while Ross shot 56% from the field en route to 11 points along with six assists and five steals. Heck is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Landon Preece, who posted 12 points.

Poca's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-15. As for Wayne, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Poca does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wayne, they will welcome Buffalo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
