Basketball Recap: Lewis Cass Comes Up Short

Lewis Cass lost against Manchester back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Lewis Cass Kings were dealt a 72-30 loss at the hands of the Manchester Squires. The game marked the Kings' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Several Kings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Julian Levine, who posted nine points. Those nine points gave Levine a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolten Young, who had eight points.

Manchester had a senior duo take command as Gavin Betten almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine steals and Ethan Hendrix went 12 for 13 en route to 31 points and six steals. Those nine steals set a new season-high mark for Betten. Another player making a difference was Aaron Reid, who earned no points and four steals.

Lewis Cass has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Manchester, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

Lewis Cass didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-55 defeat against Rochester on the 17th. As for Manchester, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 65-18 victory against Wabash on the 17th.
