Preview: Green Hope Falcons vs. Holly Springs Golden Hawks
The Green Hope Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Holly Springs Golden Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Green Hope is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Holly Springs in North Carolina (Green Hope is ranked 177th, while Holly Springs is ranked 438th).
Last Tuesday, Green Hope ended up a good deal behind Middle Creek and lost 57-43. Green Hope has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The losing side was boosted by Abigail Brown, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds. The match was her third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Swar Dave, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Holly Springs came up short against Apex Friendship on Tuesday and fell 50-38.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Amy Lissow, who scored nine points along with five rebounds. Nylah Collins was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Green Hope has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Holly Springs, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-7.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's contest: Green Hope have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 5 threes per game. It's a different story for Holly Springs, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 threes per game. Given Green Hope's sizeable advantage in that area, Holly Springs will need to find a way to close that gap.
Green Hope ended up a good deal behind Holly Springs in their previous matchup back in February, losing 53-35. Can Green Hope avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
