Softball Recap: Lincoln Triumphs

Lincoln was handed a seven-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies, sneaking past 5-3.

Ella Carlson looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kira Bailey, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Yekisa, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base.

Lincoln's record is now 16-9. As for Johnstown-Monroe, they moved to 12-9 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln will square off against Hilliard Bradley at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Johnstown-Monroe, they will take on New Albany in a tournament on Saturday. The Johnnies will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups.
