Preview: Liberty County Bulldogs vs. Blountstown Tigers
Liberty County is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Blountstown is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Liberty County Bulldogs will take on the Blountstown Tigers at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Liberty County posted their biggest victory since November 27, 2023 on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Emmanuel Christian 54-18 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-10.
Liberty County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gabriella Flowers led the charge by scoring 22 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Flowers has scored at least a third of Liberty County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleigh Peddie, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Blountstown over Maclay in every quarter on their way to victory on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Blountstown blew Maclay out of the water with a 53-20 final score. Blountstown pushed the score to 41-15 by the end of the third, a deficit Maclay had little chance of recovering from.
Blountstown found their leader in underclassman Jill Davis, who scored 17 points. Cyianna Smith was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Liberty County's victory bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Blountstown, their win bumped their record up to 11-1.
Liberty County came up short against Blountstown in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 50-42. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Smith, who scored 27 points. Now that Liberty County knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time?
