Basketball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Cypress Bay's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Cypress Bay walked away with it. They came out on top against the Park Vista Cobras by a score of 48-38 on Thursday. Given the Lightning's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Cobras are ranked 220th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Danielle Oz had an outrageously good game as she went 8-for-14 on her way to 21 points in addition to five boards and five steals. What's more, she also posted a 57% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ellie McKinney, who posted eight points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Cypress Bay has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which lines up perfectly with their 18-6 record this season. As for Park Vista, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-7.

Looking ahead, Cypress Bay will take on Miami at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Park Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
