Basketball Recap: Newfane Takes a Loss

Newfane was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 71-43 loss at the hands of the Medina Mustangs. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Newfane's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nasir Spencer, who dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 11 boards, and 11 steals. With that strong performance, Spencer is now averaging an impressive 2.6 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Mac Capen, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Newfane smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Newfane's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Medina, they pushed their record up to 3-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Newfane will face off against Royalton-Hartland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Medina, they will head out to face off against Albion at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
