Basketball Game Preview: Richmond Red Devils vs. Kokomo Wildkats

The Richmond Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Kokomo Wildkats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Thursday, Richmond lost to Anderson at home by a 68-54 margin. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 184th, while the Indians are ranked 17th).

Meanwhile, Kokomo didn't have too much trouble with Culver Academies on Thursday as they won 74-60. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildkats.

Kokomo's win came from a few key players Richmond will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zion Bellamy, who went 5 for 9 en route to 21 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds. That's the most boards he has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Baris Moore, who went 6 of 13 to rack up 17 points along with three steals and three blocks.

Richmond has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.1 points over those games. As for Kokomo, their record is now 14-5.

Richmond suffered a grim 83-61 defeat to Kokomo in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Richmond avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
