Baseball Recap: Mason County Eastern Takes a Loss

Mason County Eastern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 31-7 to the Hesperia Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-4 on Thursday.

Aaron Drake was cooking despite his team's loss, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-2. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Mason County Eastern is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-15 otherwise. Ron Hassenbank was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Mason County Eastern's loss dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Hesperia, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-12.

Coming up, Mason County Eastern will face off against Suttons Bay at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Norsemen have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.75 runs per game on average), something the Cardinals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hesperia, they will head out to face off against Holton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
