Cumberland posted their closest victory since August 28th on Thursday. They won by a set and slipped past the Okaw Valley Timberwolves 2-1. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Timberwolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Cumberland had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-19, 25-23.

Madelyn McElravy paced Cumberland's offense, picking up 14 kills. McElravy were helped by Alysa Dittamore and Jude Miller, who contributed 12 assists each.

Cumberland's victory bumped their record up to 5-6-1. As for Okaw Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cumberland will square off against Shelbyville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Okaw Valley, they will face off against Villa Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
