Volleyball Recap: North Posey Starts off Right with Win over Gibson Southern

North Posey had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Gibson Southern Titans with a sharp 3-0 win on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won seven in a row.

North Posey not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Gibson Southern between 19 and 20 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-20, 25-19.

North Posey can attribute much of their success to Mallory Luigs, who had 11 digs and two aces. Luigs is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last 19 games she's played dating back to last season.

Luigs wasn't the only good server: North Posey was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Looking ahead, North Posey will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Evansville Mater Dei at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gibson Southern, they will head out on the road to face off against Evansville Reitz at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
