Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Breia Dixon and Layla Gamez Lead Iowa Colony to Victory

Iowa Colony's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Texas City Stingarees with a sharp 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Pioneers in their matchups with the Stingarees: they've now won four in a row.

Iowa Colony was especially dominant in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23, 25-10.

Iowa Colony was led to victory by Layla Gamez and Breia Dixon. Gamez had 11 digs, while Dixon had eight digs and three aces. What's more, Dixon racked up 22 assists, the most she's had over her last 15 games.

They weren't the only good server: Iowa Colony was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. They are a perfect 6-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

Iowa Colony now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Texas City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-9.
