Soccer Game Preview: Salado vs. Bay City

The Salado Eagles will square off against the Bay City Blackcats on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Salado is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let La Vega get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. Salado's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last 19 contests.

Meanwhile, Bay City hasn't lost a match since January 17th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. Everything went their way against Brazosport as Bay City made off with a 5-1 victory. Bay City haven't had any issues with Brazosport recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Salado pushed their record up to 24-3 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those 12 matches. As for Bay City, their victory bumped their record up to 19-2-5.

Salado beat Bay City 3-1 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Salado since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
