Softball Recap: Pottsgrove Falcons vs. Pope John Paul II
Pottsgrove had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-9 to make it four. They lost 11-1 to Pope John Paul II. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Pope John Paul II this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-6 on April 2nd.
As for Pope John Paul II, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.
For Pope John Paul II's part, they got a great performance from Gracyn McFall as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. McFall has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Abby Simmers was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and four runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Charlie Hallman was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Coming up, Pottsgrove will head out to challenge Norristown at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Pope John Paul II, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Interboro at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
