Softball Recap: Orono Riots vs. Bucksport Golden Bucks
Orono had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-5 to make it four. They lost 10-0 to the Bucksport Golden Bucks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Bucks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 back in April.
As for Bucksport, the win keeps they at an undefeated 12-0. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
For Bucksport's part, Lexi Raymond was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Raymond is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Harvey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Orono will challenge rival Foxcroft Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Bucksport is set to square off against their familiar foe Dexter at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Golden Bucks 0.5, the Tigers 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
