Softball Recap: West Islip Takes a Loss

West Islip was the 9-2 winner over Hauppauge when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Lions took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles on Wednesday. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Angelina Esposito was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was her first of the season. Leah Giana was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

West Islip's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Hauppauge, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season.

West Islip will challenge Eastport-South Manor at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hauppauge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
