Basketball Game Preview: Wren Hurricanes vs. Southside Tigers

The Wren Hurricanes will challenge the Southside Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Wren took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Laurens 57-36. The Hurricanes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wren to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keyana West, who posted 14 points and eight rebounds. Lydia Wedgewood was another key player, putting up five points along with six rebounds and four blocks.

Wren was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Laurens only posted seven assists.

Meanwhile, Southside made easy work of Emerald on Thursday and carried off a 55-30 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Tigers have posted against the Vikings since January 27, 2015.

Wren's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Southside, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Wren against Southside when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 56-23 win. Will Wren repeat their success, or does Southside have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
