League recap: Clovis North enters state Top 25 with win

Clovis North was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Central. The Broncos came in at 13 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.

Clovis North extended the longest winning streak in Tri-River this week by beating the Grizzlies, 50-7. The win marks eighth in a row for the Cory Hall's team.

Clovis's dynamic duo of Jake Gatewood and Garrett Olson proved tough for Buchanan to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gatewood threw for 80 yards and Olson had 57 yards receiving. Logan Poisall helped Clovis' passing attack out by catching four balls for 20 yards.

Roger Bik was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 24 carries, he ran for 87 yards as the Bears topped the Bears. Teammate Billy East added to the ground attack by rushing for three yards.

Buchanan's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bears feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Tyler Fry has thrown for 1565 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Scott Sakamoto has 38 catches for 415 yards. East leads the league in rushing with 570 yards.

The top two teams in Tri-River will face off this week when first place Clovis North takes on second place Clovis. Last week, the Broncos beat Central, while Clovis defeated Buchanan.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Rich Hammond's team takes on Clovis North. The Cougars have allowed 81 points this season, while the Broncos have given up 144. Clovis allowed 0 points last week as it bested Mike Vogt's team.

Clovis West moved up to 224 from 290 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Golden Eagles were able to make move up by defeating Clovis East 49-15.
