Volleyball Recap: Mashpee Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Mashpee took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Nantucket, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Falcons had just enough and edged out the Whalers 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since September 12th.

Mashpee took Nantucket into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-16, 25-14, 25-27, 15-11.

Nantucket lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Viktoria Bozhkova (C), who had 11 digs, five kills, three blocks, and three aces. Emanuelly Coelho was another key player, getting 18 assists and 13 digs.

Mashpee's win ended a four-match drought at home and bumped them up to 5-12. As for Nantucket, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.

Mashpee wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Abington on the 20th. As for Nantucket, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Rising Tide on the 17th.
