Baseball Recap: Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers on Wednesday. That's more bragging rights for the Falcons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Trent Wethererll, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Pulaski, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-7.

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mt. Pulaski, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Prairie Central at 1:00 p.m. on June 29.
