The Cloverdale Eagles will head out to take on the Clear Lake Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cloverdale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.

Cloverdale is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs last Friday, they were much more limited against St. Helena on Wednesday. They came up short against the Saints, falling 11-1. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Eagles, who until this game were averaging 2.6 runs allowed.

Cloverdale saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keiko Saito, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, Clear Lake posted their closest win since April 10, 2024 on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Fort Bragg 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Timberwolves: they've now won three in a row.

Atiana Patino spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. Those hits were her first of the season.

At the plate, Lindee Bingham was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Mcintire, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Clear Lake pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Cloverdale, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 9-1.

Cloverdale might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Clear Lake when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
