Basketball Recap: Pendleton Extends Winning Streak to Four

Pendleton came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Crescent Tigers by a score of 54-44. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Leading Pendleton to victory were Samuel Ross and Garon Blalock. Ross went 6 of 12 en route to 20 points and eight boards, while Blalock posted 11 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. The dominant performance gave Ross a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Abijah Webb, who had seven points and three steals.

Pendleton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Crescent saw an underclassman step up: freshman Philip Deveaux went 7 for 14 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. The game was Deveaux's third in a row with at least ten points. Max Locke was another key player, putting up six points and 13 boards.

Pendleton's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-12. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Crescent, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9.

Pendleton has already played their next match (against Belton-Honea Path), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Crescent will head out to square off against Walhalla at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Crescent is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season.
