The Burbank Titans will head out on the road to challenge the West Campus Warriors at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Burbank has given up an average of 24.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Burbank is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They came up short against Valley, falling 40-32. Even if the Titans couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
MARICELA MONTES led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in all seven of her plate appearances with nine stolen bases and six runs. Another player making a difference was LILLYROSE JERBAL, who got on base in all seven of her plate appearances with ten stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for West Campus' offense. They fell 4-0 to Armijo on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Warriors' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Analisa Mederos was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, West Campus saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Miriya Yeung, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.
Burbank's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for West Campus, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-8.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Burbank hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .484. However, it's not like West Campus struggles in that department as they've averaged .397. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Burbank suffered a grim 15-3 defeat to West Campus when the teams last played back in April. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
