Baseball Recap: Everett Crimson Tide vs. Malden Golden Tornados

Everett lost against Malden back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Crimson Tide fell just short of the Golden Tornados by a score of 3-2. The Crimson Tide have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Derek Soper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tyler Freni made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Everett is 4-1 when Freni posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was MJ Guida, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Everett's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Malden, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-1.
