Volleyball Recap: Porter Ridge's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Porter Ridge came into Wednesday's matchup having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Butler Bulldogs on Wednesday. This was payback for the Pirates, who suffered a 3-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The victory didn't come easy: Butler scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-18, 16-25, 25-21.

Porter Ridge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mung Khai out in front who had seven digs and two aces. The dominant performance also gave Khai a new career-high in assists (29). Another player making a difference was Diego Corona, who had 20 digs and three assists.

Khai wasn't the only good server: Porter Ridge was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That's a new trend for the Pirates: they were averaging 1.6 aces per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 5.2.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-7. As for Butler, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Porter Ridge will challenge rival Parkwood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Butler is set to square off against their familiar foe Berry at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
