While Redlands East Valley's win against Citrus Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Blackhawks 3-2. The game was the first time the Wildcats have beaten the Blackhawks on their court since October 4, 2021.

Redlands East Valley wouldn't go down easily and took Citrus Valley into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 25-15, 26-24, 23-25, 15-12.

Citrus Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Sophia Swogger, who had 28 digs and seven assists, and Willow Taylor, who had eight kills, three digs, and two aces. Swogger has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 27 times she's played.

The win got Redlands East Valley back to even at 9-9. As for Citrus Valley, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.

Redlands East Valley and Citrus Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Wildcats (ranked 564th) will meet Redlands (ranked 44th) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Citrus Valley will take on Yucaipa at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (740 vs. 332).
