The Regis Jesuit Raiders will venture away from home to take on the Mullen Mustangs at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Regis Jesuit's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Valor Christian 11-0. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Raiders this season.
Diesel Bernosky and Chase Massey did most of the damage at the plate: Bernosky scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Massey scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, Massey posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gavin Cronin, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Mullen waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 14-6 victory. The Mustangs not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 18, 2024.
Alexander Andrews looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Blake Young was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Charlie Krza was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple.
Mullen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win made it two in a row for Regis Jesuit and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Mullen, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Regis Jesuit couldn't quite get it done against Mullen when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-6. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
